On newer devices (from late 2017 onwards?), reprogramming via key combination no longer works! Alinco offers software (the so-called O-Setup software) that allows you to program the different radio types (frequency ranges).

The software only allows you to select the DJ-500(TB), DJ-500T, and DJ-500E models. The DJ-500EX (Open Mode) model is not selectable.

Here’s the trick: Activate the “Freq.Set” checkbox and click “Write.” Afterward, the key combination will work, and you can also select Mode 4 (DJ-500EX).
